Who?

Regarding Donald Trump’s and Joe Biden’s cognitive acuity, distinguishing “remembering” and “reasoning” is instructive.  While the latter routinely relies on the former, they are distinct.

Think of memory as a bag of marbles.  Through our formative years the number of marbles is small.  Finding the green one with the orange stripe is easy.  With several hundred marbles in the sack, the green and orange one becomes more illusive.  After decades, with thousands of marbles in the bag, apart from those recently acquired, the identity and significance of most, e.g. a specific date, event, or experience, is wholly forgotten.

“Reason” applies accessible memory, “apperceptive mass,” and current data to an issue at hand.

This said, who?

  • Suggested injecting toxic chemicals to combat COVID-19 virus?
  • Bragged, “with Obama, we won an election that everyone said couldn’t be won.”?  (It was Hillary.)
  • Said, regarding confronting the January 6, 2021, assault on the Capitol, Congress, and Constitution, “Because of lots of things like Nikki Haley is in charge of security.  We offered her 10,000 people, soldiers, National Guards, whatever they want.”  (Go figure?)
  • Said wet magnets don’t work?
  • Said “(Biden’s) now in charge of dealing with Russia and possible nuclear war  .  .  .  just think of it, we would be in World War II”?  (We already won that one?)
  • Said wind turbines kill birds?  (Automobiles kill 500 times, communication towers 50 times, and buildings’ windows twice the number of birds as wind turbines.)
  • Said wind turbines cause dead whales to wash up on America’s east coast “on a weekly basis.”?  (NOAA finds that fishing nets, being struck by vessels, disease, and starvation account for most whale deaths.)
  • Would let Russia “do whatever the hell they want” against NATO countries unable fully financially support the alliance.  NATO is America’s frontline against Putin.
  • Said John McCane, hence all prisoners of war, is not a hero?
  • Reputedly said armed forces personnel are “suckers” and “losers”?
  • Despite over sixty failed court challenges, overwhelming evidence to the contrary, and universal consensus he lost, still insists he won the 2020 Presidential election?
  • On the heels of, (1) orchestrating an attack on the Capitol, Congress, and Constitution, (2) pressing Secretaries of State, Governors, and Legislators to overthrow 2020 election results, and (3) absconding with thousands of official government documents, says, “I did nothing wrong.”?
  • Said undocumented immigrants are, “poisoning the blood of our county”?

And who,

  • Has more employed workers than at any other time in American History?
  • Passed the CHIPS Act authorizing $280 billion for domestic semiconductor research and production?
  • Rescued the economy and changed the course of the COVID-19 pandemic?
  • Passed Bipartisan Infrastructure Law which: expanded access to clean drinking water; will repair rebuild and build highways and bridges across America; improved and expanded public transportation; will upgraded airports, ports, and expand passenger rail service; upgraded America’s power infrastructure; cleaning up Superfund and abandoned mines, oil, and gas wells?
  • Enacted Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, removing firearms from dangerous individuals and expanding mental health services?
  • Protected marriage for LGBTQI+ and interracial couples?
  • Quarterbacked worldwide support for Ukraine against Putin’s aggression?
  • Issued executive orders protecting reproductive rights?
  • Advanced equity and racial justice through, criminal justice reform, narrowing racial wealth gap, criminal justice reform, and a Public Safety Trust?
  • Delivering the Most Aggressive Climate and Environmental Agenda in American History?
  • Expanded health insurance to more Americans than ever?
  • Passed Inflations Reduction Act capping Medicare beneficiaries’ out-of-pocket cost for brand-name drugs to $3500 per year?

On Morning Joe, September 25, conversative commentator Charles Sikes opined, “Joe Biden can say, ‘Yes, I’m old, but he is crazy.’”  Crazy is only three years junior to Old.
